The Biggest Complaint That
Clients Have About VAs

I’ve been working in the VA industry for ten years now, which means that I’ve talked to a lot of clients over the years.

Much of the time, I was picking up the pieces from a bad VA experience that the client had.

When I probed further to find out how I could best help this client, the problem was unanimous.

The biggest complaint among clients nearly 100% of the time is when a VA says that they can do something that they, in fact, cannot do.

When I started thinking about why this was happening, it hit me.

These VAs were undoubtedly trying the “fake it till you make it” theory, and it blew up in their face.

They were good at selling themselves to get hired by that client but ran into trouble when it came time to walk the walk.

Oh boy.

Educating yourself and being surrounded by other people that are smarter than you is key to your success.

You learn things from them that you are unable to learn on your own.

Here’s my advice: be honest about your experience with VA work but confident about your ability.

It may be scary to admit that you’re new, but it’s way better than to lead a client to believe otherwise.

We have to remember that this is the client’s livelihood, and we have to take that very seriously.

When we get involved in someone’s business and don’t know the ropes, disaster can strike.

This doesn’t mean that you won’t get hired! Remember, everyone was new at some point (even me!).

Many small business owners looking to hire you are willing to be patient with you as you learn. If they aren’t, they are doing you a favor because they are not meant to be your client.

The best rule of thumb though, if you want to fast-track to the top, is to invest in your education.

Lesley Pyle with Hire My Mom says not investing in training is the biggest mistake she sees freelancers making.

You don’t want to ruin your reputation amongst clients. Doing so can really stunt the growth of your business.

I get it; investing in yourself takes a HUGE mindset shiftHuge.

It’s more than worth it, though! (and a tax write-off!)

My student, Cheryl,  doubled her investment in My VA School just six weeks after graduating!

If you’re looking to invest in your education, we have courses for every budget and skill level.
