Complete Guide to Virtual Assisting Words and Terms

One of the first steps in your virtual assisting career is learning what all of the words and terms mean. If you don’t, it’ll create mass confusion and miscommunication with your clients. Study the terms below by hovering your mouse over each box to see the meaning!
  • Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are links that track the sale or promotion of an event or product. Most of the time, we use affiliate links to track expert promotion for summits.

  • Aweber

AWeber is an email marketing service provider. It holds our client’s subscriber list(s) and is how mass emails are sent. The client always signs up for this account and you are given access (usually through direct login or LastPass). You NEVER sign up for an account of any kind with your own information. There are tons of email marketing service providers out there, and Aweber is just one of them.

  • Clickfunnels

Clickfunnels is a landing page/funnel builder. These funnels are “pre-done” and have proven to convert well. You can also connect payment gateways, email lists, and more directly to click funnels.

  • Conversion

The percentage of people that go from browsing a site to becoming a paying customer and/or giving their information (usually a name and email address).

  • Copy

Copy refers to the literal words on an email or page. So for example, if a client would like me to set up a sales page for them, I would ask for a copy to that page.

  • Daily Emails

The “daily emails” pertain to an online summit only. After the two weeks promotional period, daily emails are sent through the email marketing service provider to those who have signed up to receive the summit/interviews. One email per day is then sent to that email list with the link to watch that day’s interview.

  • Double Opt-In (a.k.a. confirmed opt-in)

A double opt-in adds an additional step to the email subscription opt-in process which requires a user to verify their email address and confirm interest. Almost 100% of the time, we turn this feature off which can be done in the email marketing service provider of the client.

  • Email List

An email list refers to the names and emails of those who have “opted in” or subscribed to a client’s registration/opt-in/purchase page. The email list is always “housed” in the email marketing service provider.

  • Email Marketing
